Absolutely not. Antlers are naturally shed once each year by deer, elk, and moose. This is a completely natural process that causes no harm to the animal. Shortly after shedding, a brand-new set of antlers begins to grow, making antlers one of nature's most sustainable dog chews.

Our antlers are responsibly sourced from government-inspected farms and through organized shed collectors across Canada and the United States. Each year, naturally shed antlers are carefully collected, ensuring no animals are harmed. This sustainable sourcing process allows us to provide premium-quality, all-natural antler chews while respecting wildlife and the environment. 

After the antlers are naturally shed, they are collected promptly and taken to our processing facility where they are:

• Thoroughly cleaned using hot water
• Power washed
• Cut to size
• Sanded smooth
• Carefully inspected and packaged

No. We never use soaps, detergents, chemicals, bleach, preservatives, or artificial treatments. Our antlers are cleaned using only hot water.

Every dog chews differently, so longevity varies.

As a general guide:

• Aggressive chewers: Approximately 3–4 weeks
• Moderate or gentle chewers: Several months

Yes. Antlers are naturally digestible through gradual wear and are less likely to upset your dog's stomach than many traditional chews. They are also an excellent option for dogs with food sensitivities or common protein allergies since they contain no artificial ingredients or additives.

Yes. Antlers naturally contain beneficial minerals including:

• Phosphorus
• Magnesium
• Potassium
• Iron
• Zinc

As dogs chew, they gradually access these naturally occurring minerals.

Yes. Chewing helps naturally reduce plaque and tartar buildup. As your dog gnaws on the antler, the textured surface acts like a gentle toothbrush, helping support cleaner teeth and healthier gums while satisfying their natural chewing instincts.

Whole antlers are much less likely to splinter than many cooked or processed bones. However, no chew is completely indestructible. Always supervise your dog while chewing and choose the correct size for their chewing style.

Whole Antlers

• Extremely durable
• Long-lasting
• Best for moderate to aggressive chewers
• Provides a greater chewing challenge

Split Antlers

• Marrow is exposed for immediate enjoyment
• Easier for dogs to access the nutritious center
• Ideal for puppies (Even during the teething stage but monitor and limit chew time to 15-20 minutes and rotate with rubber or stuffed chews)      
• Splits are also ideal for senior dogs, first-time antler users, and gentle to moderate chewers
• Not recommended for aggressive power chewers

Whole Antlers

Replace the antler when it becomes small enough that your dog could fit the entire piece into their mouth, creating a choking hazard.

Split Antlers

Replace once most of the marrow has been enjoyed and only the hard outer shell remains.

When in doubt, replace it with a fresh antler.

Choosing the correct antler is one of the most important factors for safe chewing.

Consider your dog's:

• Breed
• Weight
• Age
• Jaw strength
• Chewing style
• Previous chewing experience

The golden rule: Never choose an antler that is too small for your dog.

For example, an 80 lb German Shepherd that is a powerful chewer should generally be given a large Whole Antler rather than a Split Antler.

Safe Chewing Tips

Your dog's safety always comes first.

• Always supervise your dog while they are chewing.
• Choose the correct size based on your dog's weight and chewing strength.
• Very aggressive power chewers can occasionally fracture a tooth on any hard chew, including antlers. If your dog is an extreme chewer, monitor them carefully.
• We recommend limiting chewing sessions to approximately 30-45 minutes per day (or about ½–1 inch of wear per day) to maximize the life of the antler.
• If you need to take the antler away, simply trade it for a favourite treat such as a small piece of cheese or another high-value reward.

Proper sizing and supervision are the keys to a safe and enjoyable chewing experience.
